Eyes tier II & III cities for recruiting graduates. |
As part of its expansion plans, IT services company KPIT Cummins Infosystems Limited is planning to set up a new development facility at Pune at an investment of close to Rs 80 crore. |
The company, which provides IT services with a focus on manufacturing, advanced technology solutions (automotive, industrial automation and semiconductor solutions) and banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) verticals, currently has four development facilities, two each in Pune and Bangalore, and 18 offshore centres across the country. |
Commenting on KPIT Cummins' expansion plans, president and executive director, Girish Wardadkar, said the company had bought 25 acres of land in phase-III of the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park, Hinjawadi near Pune, for the purpose. |
"The new facility, which will entail an investment of between Rs 62 crore and Rs 80 crore, is expected to be operational by September 2008," he added. |
KPIT has set a turnover target of $150 million (around Rs 600 crore) for the current financial year, and aims at becoming a $300-million company by 2010. "Our vision is to become a global partner of our customers with a leadership position in select areas by 2013," Wardadkar said. |
Stating that the primary challenge the IT industry is facing now was talent crunch, he said the company was looking at tier II and tier III cities like Nashik, Nagpur and Nanded in Maharashtra and Indore in Madhya Pradesh to recruit engineering and non-engineering graduates. |
"We are recruiting around 1,000 people this year, and plan to deploy another 1,500 during the next financial year. Of these, the number of freshers will be 50 per cent and we will increase this proportion to 75 per cent in the next three years," Wardadkar added. |
