LogicaCMG, the £2 billion UK-based IT services firm, has outlined its next phase of expansion plans in India. The company has stated that discussions are on internally about scaling up its India workforce to 5,000 by 2007 from the current strength of 1,200. |
This will require an investment of over Rs 200 crore (£25 million). Recently it announced that it plans to have a total employee base of 2,500 by end of 2005 with a total investment of around Rs 190 crore (£23 million). |
Said Rahul Patwardhan, CEO, Global Delivery Centre, Bangalore, LogicaCMG: "We have current capacity in Bangalore to house 2,500 professionals which should be full by end of this year. We are currently evaluating the option of putting up a new facility with similar capacity and a decision to this effect should be taken pretty soon. I am pushing for the expansion here. One thing is sure that we are accelerating our plans here and hopefully we can expect another Rs 200 crore of investment here." |
The company is focus sing on expanding its application management expertise here and this should account for nearly 70 per cent of its workforce in India. |
"We have a small but growing third party BPO service from Bangalore and we are partnering ICICI OneSource for this. This work should account for close to 20 per cent of our workforce while the remaining 10 per cent will be utilised for captive BPO," Patwardhan highlighted. |
