LogicaCMG, a global IT services company, has announced its entry into the energy and utilities (E&U) sector in India. |
The company, which is a global partner of SAP worldwide, has also announced its plans to recruit 200 SAP professionals for its SAP team based out of Bangalore, by the end of 2006. |
As a first step in its entry into the E&U market, LogicaCMG has demonstrates its Prodis at the recently-held SAP summit in Mumbai. |
Prodis addresses the need for upstream natural gas businesses to integrate and standardise their IT systems, the company said in a release. |
"The fast-growing energy and utilities sector in India represents a huge opportunity for IT solutions. As market competition increases, companies need to employ integrated solutions to reduce operational and support costs while improving overall efficiency," said Kannan Ramaswamy, managing director, South Asia, LogicaCMG, in a statement. |
LogicaCMG's portfolio of E&U solutions and services cover upstream and downstream oil and gas, competitive utility markets, enterprise asset management, and regulatory compliance. |
"These are aligned with major challenges faced by our clients, including achieving cost-efficiencies, managing increasing competition and regulations, and reducing the cost of reaching out to global emissions targets," he added. |
According to the company, the Prodis solution is presently deployed on over 30 offshore platforms, five gas terminals and three pipelines and manages over 70 per cent of the UK and 33 per cent of the Dutch gas storage capacity. |
