The Chief Executive Officer of Loop Mobile and Loop Telecom (formerly BPL Mobile Communications and BPL Mobile), Sanjeev Chachondia, has resigned. The company has appointed Sandip Basu its new CEO.

Sanjeev ChachondiaWhile a spokesperson confirmed the development, reasons for his resignation could not be ascertained. Chachondia, who had joined the company in late 2006, has quit when it is expanding operations to become a pan-India service provider. Loop Telecom had got licence and spectrum for all 21 circles in the country and had recently rolled out its GSM operations in Kerala and Karnataka. In June, it had done so in Tamil Nadu and Orissa.

Chachondia is also credited with the brand change from BPL to Loop, following the expiry of its brand-use agreement with the TPG Nambiar-promoted BPL Group.

Sandip Basu, the new CEO, was previously Managing Director and CEO of XCEL Telecom. He had also worked earlier as CEO of BPL Mobile.
