The Malavalli Foundation Vidyapeetha is spreading its wings in the IT education sector in Mysore. Kumar Malavalli, who made it big in the Silicon Valley in the US, is one of the trustees of the foundation.

Having provided digital learning facilities through state-of-the-art coaching for primary school, high school and secondary education for two years, it will launch an institute to impart IT education and training.

The institute, accredited by the University of Mysore, will offer IT-based courses for enhancing employment opportunities for the younger generation.

It will offer IT-based short-term and long-term courses and award certificates and diplomas approved by the university. For the purpose, the foundation has entered into an MoU with the university.

The foundation had earlier set up the Malavalli Foundation Digital Learning Centre with modern infrastructure.

"The foundation intends to move from traditional tools and techniques to IT-based multimedia technique. This will bring about changes in a host of activities in the 21st century," a trustee said.

Vice-chairman Shivaram Malavalli told the Business Standard that the institute will be inaugurated on May 11.
