Micromax says it is entering into edutainment with the launch of the tablet and that the product is aimed at making learning fun for children. The company also boasts that it’s the only tablet which has parental control over the children’s usage of the gadget. The dual use mode of parents and children of the tablet would allow parents to limit the time of usage, to foster learning skills and monitor internet accessibility of the children.
Another upside of the product is the children’s pre-loaded content, put together by team of developers. In the parent mode, it can be used as a fully-functional Android tablet, be used to check e-mail and so on.
The tablet runs on Android Kit Kat 4.4 with 1.3 Ghz processor; 1 GB RAM and 8 GB ROM. With a seven-inch display, Micromax says their team has developed an interface which would be easy for children and yet curtail certain content which would not be fit for particular young age groups. For clicking pictures, video recording and playback, it has 2 MP as rear and VGA as front cameras, and 3,200 Mahbattery for longer usage.
Commenting on the parental control feature of the tablet, VineetTaneja, chief executive officer, Micromax Informatics said, “With the launch of Canvas Tabby, we are offering to developkids’ potential through the use of well-designed age appropriate content and great technology. The parental control features as well as the powerful Android mode of the tablet is designed to be a delight for the parents, making this the perfect shared content-and-creativity device for every household.”
