Micromax Unite 3, the third handset in the Unite series, was kind of a life-saver for me.. My long-time partner Samsung, had breathed its last and I was on the lookout for the handset when I was given this for review. Thus, I jumped at the chance.
As the name suggests, the Unite 3 is designed to unite people on this Android platform, on the basis of a common language.
Given the fact that Micromax wants to tap regional users, this phone comes with 10 languages. The 10 regional languages that the phone offers are: Hindi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telegu, Kannada, Odiya, Bengali and Marathi. The smartphone includes a new feature that lets users translate a message from English to the language of their choice and vice versa, with a simple swipe. A transliteration feature is also available with a thumb’s swipe, making it easier and quicker for users to chat effectively.

The battery is a strong one which charges quickly but discharges slowly. One can play three movies back-to-back and the battery would still suffice for the day.
The design is sleek and convenient to handle. It comes with a big 4.7-inch screen, which is typical for a smartphone. But the display is a bit dull.
With the phone being light in weight, carrying it around is not much of a hassle.
The phone, falling under the budget category, though fails to impress. At first, it is not user-friendly. Also, it started hanging in the very first week, making me crazy and angry at the same time.
The whole gamut of applications provided work just fine, as they would in other smartphones.
More From This Section
The rear camera is average, but the front camera might disappoint the selfie-obsessed users.
The Unite 3 houses a quad-core MediaTek MT6582M processor, running at 1.3 GHz. The 1GB of RAM, too, is average for a smartphone. And 8GB of internal storage is sub-par for storing music and video. Fortunately, you can expand its storage by as much as 32GB with a microSD card.
Overall, the phone doesn’t have anything new to offer over and above its counterparts in the same range, apart from the transliteration and translation feature. It is an average phone and a bit expensive if pitched against its features. Nonetheless, its camera and battery life offer partial respite.
