With the Indian IT and ITeS sector emerging out of the recession and back on the growth path, industry body Nasscom on Friday said much of the growth in the next 10 years would come from new geographies, verticals and customer segments. Even though growth has returned to the Indian IT industry, this time it would be different from what the industry experienced earlier, according to Nasscom President Som Mittal.
“As per our analysis, in the coming decade (2011-2020), 80 per cent of the new opportunities are going to be from new areas such as new geographies, new verticals, new customer segments,” he said.
With this, the industry needs to have a different approach to tap those opportunities, he said. “I think we need different focused approaches for the next decade and we have already laid a solid foundation,” Mittal said on the sidelines of an international conference organised by the Computer Society of India.
