Naukri.com, one of the pioneers in the field of online job portals, will organise its first job fair in Chandigarh tomorrow. |
The significant growth in information technology, financial services and business process outsourcing (BPOs) in Chandigarh and of manufacturing in Baddi-Barotiwal-Nalagarh region has been the driving force behind the rise in lucrative employment opportunities in the region. |
According to Hitesh Oberoi, the co-founder and chief operating officer (COO) of Info Edge (India), more than 25 companies have confirmed participation in the job fair that would offer 4,000 jobs to the employable youth in the region. |
He added that such events provide a platform to the employers to choose the right candidate by assessing in person their suitability for the job. This may be followed by spot selection which is not possible online. |
He also added that the website will expand its network in the gulf and facilitate the non-resident Indians based there to get back to their roots. |
He said that they have an office in Dubai and plan to expand their domain to Qatar and Bahrain as well. |
"There are many Indians in this part of the world who are keen to return to India but are unaware about the suitable job opportunities back home. With the help of information provided by our website they can explore the opportunities in India", he added. |
Oberoi said that they would replicate the event in other parts of Punjab if they get a good response in the region. |
