With data storage security and protection gaining in importance in India with more and more companies adopting IT infrastructure, Network Appliances (NetApp), an enterprise storage solutions provider, expects more business from India. |
At present, data storage security and protection is still in its nascent stage in India. However, it is of growing concern for various sectors such as banking, financial services and insurance, and BPOs. |
NetApp has several data protection and encryption solutions. In 2005, the $2.07 billion company acquired Decru, a privately-held company, which specialises in data storage security solutions. |
These solutions have already been introduced in India. "A number of MNCs operating in India have adopted these solutions. We expect Indian companies to go in for data storage security solutions in the coming days. Security and privacy of data is now a cause for concern among enterprises worldwide," said Jay Kidd, senior vice-president and GM (Emerging Products Group), NetApp. |
NetApp's data protection solutions address a range of needs for enterprises and governments, including regulatory compliance, privacy, secure consolidation, and outsourcing. |
The solutions also protect the core of the storage network by inserting a layer of strong encryption, authentication, access controls, and compartmentalisation. |
According to Kidd, deploying the data storage security solutions requires no changes to servers, desktops, applications, or user workflow. |
"The solutions can be easily integrated into existing IT infrastructures. We see a lot of potential for growth in India as the economy is growing," he added. |
NetApp India marketing director Soumitra Agarwal said the company would target banking and financial services companies for growth. |
"These companies need to protect data of customers and their transactions. We will also look at Indian BPOs for growth," he added. |
