What is the next scheme the mobile companies are going to offer you or what are the kinds of loans banks will offer you? How do they come up with various schemes is a question nagging our minds.

This is where business intelligence and data warehousing steps in. Netezza Corporation, a Boston-based database warehouse provider is setting its foot in India through a partnership with Keysoft Solutions. The company sees a large market in the telecommunication, banking and government sector.

"The increasing use of business intelligence analysis to analyse consumer trends has become an important part of the business strategy and it is here that Netezza's performance server comes to use," said Vinay Samuel, director (sales), Asia Pacific, Netezza said.

With most of the database warehouse failures associated with poor performance by the technology platforms, Netezza provides the database, server and storage integrated into one, making it ready to install and easy to start.

"The India market is aware of this but the prohibitive costs are preventing companies from taking up business intelligence analysis," said Michael Kearney, marketing director, Asia Pacific said. The company plans to provide 'cheaper and faster database warehouse' compared to its competitors like Teradata and Oracle10g.

Business intelligence process involves using large database warehouses upto the capacities of 100 terabytes by companies to study the various projections and it is using these that the companies come up with customer friendly plans.

It maintains critical historical data that has been extracted from operational data storage and transformed into formats accessible for business analysis.

"The key to good business intelligence process is good performance queries and increased performance queries can increase productivity across an organisation," said Michael Kearney.
