Pune-based Nevis Networks, announced the launch of its comprehensive networking solution, LANenforcer on Monday.Over $40 million of venture capital funding has backed the company since its inception in October 2002. |
Describing LANenforcer Vinod Dham, co-founder and managing director, NewPath Ventures and the original venture capitalist backing Nevis said," a product which integrates one of the most advanced chips, Super Nova and software to provide a complete, comprehensive and innovative solution for addressing security." |
The company works on a cross border model, with 80 per cent operations in Pune and 20 per cent in the US. |
"This model has helped us get a competitive differentiation, allowing us to put together a good management team, get funding and access to markets and create intellectual property (IP) in India," said Charles Dauber, president and chief executive, Nevis Networks. |
Besides, NewPath Ventures, which has a 40 per cent ownership in the company, Nevis Networks has also received funding from BlueRun/Nokia Ventures and New Enterprise Associates. |
"Networks have changes from just a connecting medium to a business critical need, which carry our data and voice packages. As such ensuring its security is a $20 billion market opportunity. We are addressing the threat right at the site of occurrence, so that the networks do not get hacked or compromised upon," said Dauber. |
Explaining how LANenforcer works, he said, It locks down the local area network (LAN), by deploying itself over the network and then provides threat protection using multiple security techniques. |
