Nortel India on Friday announced the global launch of its enhanced Ethernet Routing Switch ERS 8600 Version 4 in Bangalore. With the launch of the new version 4 Ethernet Routing Switch, the company plans to tap various segments like manufacturing, ITeS, telecom and the BFSI space.

According to Nortel, convergence provides a clear path for enabling applications to provide gains in employee productivity and decreases in recurring costs.

"By creating a unified communication network, enterprises can employ collaborative technologies to share recourses within the entire organisation, improve day-to-day operational processes and more cost-effectively communicate with customer's partners and suppliers," a spokesperson for Nortel India said.

He added that convergence requires reliable, secure and intelligent networks.

"Delivering uninterrupted and secured voice, video, data and applications over a single network " wired or wireless, public or private is the key challenge. Resilience, security and integrity are key factors, which cannot be ignored in such network convergence. The Ethernet Routing Switch 8600 delivers a solution that allows corporate networks to provide such unified communications network. Resiliency helps ensure that network resources are always available," he added.
