Online user visits to check mobile devices rise 173%: IAMAI

The branded apparel segment witnessed an increase of 88 %, while visits to designer footwear grew 8.3 %

Courtesy the increasing interest in mobile devices and smart phones in India, online user visits to check mobile devices rose 172.5% with 12.7 million hits in July 2013, as compared to 4.66 million in the corresponding month last year. 
 
According to the latest Internet Economy Watch, published jointly by the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) and market research firm IMRB International, while the branded apparel segment witnessed 9.95 million hits in July 2013 as compared to 5.29 million hits in July 2012, an increase of 88 %, the online user visits to designer footwear grew 8.3 % to 2.21 million hits, as against 2.04 million in July 2012. 
 
 
According to the data, while the online booking of air tickets decreased from 1.95 million hits in July 2012 to 1.84 million in July 2013, there has been a marginal increase in online booking of railways tickets from 6.53 million in July 2012 to 6.70 million in July 2013, IAMAI said in a release on Monday.
