Packateer, a US-based networking firm, said on Friday it plans a "global strategic programme" to set up full-fledged operations in India, and a support centre in Bangalore.

Dave Côté, president and chief executive officer, of the wide area network specialist, told reporters here, "Our India operations, officially a year old, continues to grow strongly to address the fast growing outsourcing requirements of multinational corporations."

Growth in sectors like financial services, government and the Internet service providers was contributing to India being placed among the biggest and fastest growing markets, he said.

Such markets "are adopting technology faster compared to some developed markets," Côté said.

Packateer's India operations are part of its global strategy to improve logistics, training, enhance services to global clients through faster software implementations and 24 /7 support services.

Packateer India's domestic business includes customers like Kanbay Software, HDFC Bank, oil firm BPCL and engineering firm L&T, he said.
