Patni Computer Systems has announced the formation of consulting services practice within its manufacturing business unit.

According to a release issued by Patni to the BSE today, the new practice will offer manufacturers a full spectrum of solutions designed to improve business performance and corporate competitiveness through strategies, processes and tools delivered by experienced consultants.

Watermill Group, a strategy-driven private equity firm, used the consulting services for due diligence, planning and post-acquisition integration activities with its newly acquired portfolio company Latrobe Specialty Steel, the release said.

"We engaged Patni's consulting services to manage the transition, drive key process transformation and change management. Eventually, we will hand-off Latrobe's complete IT operations to Patni, reducing our cost and risk while accelerating the post acquisition integration process" Stephen Kotler, CFO, Watermill Group said.

"Going forward, we see our partnership with Patni as an effective strategy for acquiring and growing our portfolio companies and tackling more complex transactions,"  Kotler added.

Patni has appointed Sanjiv Bhatia as vice president of the newly formed consulting services practice, the release added.
