The combined serial inkjet and page printer, copier and multifunction product (MFP) market expanded by 10% to over 6.8 lakh units in the last quarter of 2010, market analyst firm Gartner said today.
"With the growth in IT sector and overall consumer confidence, there has been a spur in IT spending including the small and midsize business (SMB) and government sectors. Hence most print vendors reported good growth," Amrita Choudhury, research analyst at Gartner, said in a statement.
HP, Canon, Epson and Samsung continued to be the top four vendors accounting for 94% of the total printer market in the fourth quarter of 2010, the statement said.
HP remained the leader in the printer, copier and MFP market with a market share of 55.7%, followed by Canon with a 24.6% market share.
Gartner said HP maintained its leadership in the A4 MFP market with 60% market share followed by Canon with 20%. Samsung accounted for 7% of the market in the segment during fourth quarter 2010.
In the A3 flatbed copier MFP segment, Toshiba lead the market with 31% market share, followed by Canon with 21%.

The page printer market grew by only 2% in the this reported quarter.
HP which leads the page printer market with a 46% market share recorded only 1% growth while Canon with 40% market share showed growth of 20%.
Samsung recorded a decline of 28% but held 10% market share in the Indian page printer market, the statement said.
