An innovative technology called Quillpad that allows users to send e-mails in Indian languages has been launched.

It uses artificial intelligence (AI) to browse web pages or any documents containing Indian language content and learn that particular language's patterns automatically, top officials of Tachyon Technologies, the Bangalore -based company that developed it, said.

"This learning is just one-time and the trained set of patterns can be used by everyone using Quillpad technology", the company said.

"Quillpad is an innovative technology that enables predictive transliteration...Anyone who can write their names on computers can now type directly in Indian languages (right now in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam) with Quillpad," K S Sreeram and H Ram Prakash, co-founders of Tachyon, said.

It uses machine learning (AI) techniques to achieve this. "Unlike most transliteration systems today, which expect users to type adhering to some rigid rules, Quillpad allows one to type in intuitively and in turn, intelligently performs the corresponding transliteration," Sreeram and Prakash said.
