There are a lot among us who are avid train travellers. However, India's lifeline network appears to be in the Stone Age when it comes to offering an easy and comfortable travelling experience. To a great extent, the RailYatri app tries to diminish these low points.
With the RailYatri app, passengers can access the luxury of ordering food on the go and book cabs while travelling. The two-year-old technology start-up is accessible across Android, Windows and iOS platforms. The app is user-friendly, free from all kinds of advertisements and available for free on the Google Play Store.
As one enters the train name or number that he/she wishes to travel on, all essential services, including the train's time-table, ticket availability, platform information, meals on order and cab booking, appear in a single window.

To order meals, select the food outlet from the many options available at the place from where you intend to have food. Just place the order and you can be assured of a call-back from the restaurant or outlet to take your orders with cash-on-delivery option.
The same procedure applies for booking cabs, with the options for both pick-up and drop-off, mostly from Olacabs and Easy Cabs.
RailYatri provides all information on facilities provided by each station in India. Also, the app did not appear cumbersome and did not slow down the phone.
However, it is disappointing that these functions are not available at all stations. While you can order meals at more than half the stations, the 'book-a-cab' facility is available at very few stations.
Moreover, the server hangs repeatedly, which could be due to the huge database, but spoils the experience.
Hence, with a number of similar apps available around us, if these short-comings are overcome, RailYatri app can prove to be one of the best to enhance your train travel experience.
