The Small and Medium Businesses (SMB) segment is still largely unaddressed by the domestic IT companies, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) vice chairman S Ramadorai has said.

“SMB market is largely unaddressed, which accounts for 50-60 per cent of the potential market in India,” Ramadorai said addressing the annual business conclave ‘Manfest 2010’ of the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow (IIM-L) here recently.

Speaking on ‘The role of the Indian IT industry in a recessionary economy and its future potential’, he said education, retail and healthcare sectors were also relatively unexplored by the IT companies.

“India’s domestic IT services business is growing at a healthy 15-18 per cent. Several e- governance initiatives are being launched with IT-enabled public services across several departments,” Ramadorai said.
