Press Trust Of India New Delhi
Taking advantage of the new telecom policy, which allows to offer dual technology, Reliance Telecom (RTL), a subsidiary of the ADA group's Reliance Communications, today applied for CDMA spectrum in the North East and Assam.

When contacted, an official spokesperson confirmed the development saying RTL's decision to seek CDMA spectrum was in tune with the new guidelines announced by the Department of Telecom (DoT) last week.

RTL is already offering GSM-based mobile services in these two states, besides six other states in the eastern region.

Reliance Communications had last week deposited Rs 1,651 crore with the DoT seeking GSM spectrum to launch nation-wide mobile services.
