Samsung's latest flagship televison models are big. The 65-inch Samsung SUHD TV JS9000 I had for review kind of dominated my living room. The TV won't feel out of place in a carefully decorated room, because the chamfered design does look good.

The curved TV is a step up from its predecessor, and does fire up faster (it could be because of the octa-core processor or the Tizen OS). It was only when I played an ultra high definition (UHD) or 4K clip did I understand how the TV had improved. There was a significant enhancement in depth. Plus the pictures were sharper, with more vibrant, albeit life-like, colours. I watched a 4K version of Night at the Museum and Genghis Khan felt adorable, with the antics of the come-to-life museum inhabitants never clearer.

If you own a smartphone, you can connect wirelessly to play content; but if you own one from Samsung (Galaxy S4 and above supported), you can continue watching that late-night movie on the smaller screen in bed.

The SUHD TV JS9000 retains the good things of the earlier line while improving on a host of others. But the absence of any 3D glasses, despite a sticker price of Rs 4,40,900, is exasperating.
