Satyam Computer Services Ltd has established its first 'Global Innovation Hub', a facility dedicated to research and development (R&D), in Singapore.

The company would use the facility to test and develop applications with technology partners in efforts to continually improve services to global customers, Satyam sated in a press release here on Wednesday claiming that it was the first major Indian IT company to establish an R&D hub in Singapore.

The innovation hub houses two centres of expertise that focus on leading telecom and business intelligence (BI) technologies. The telecom applications centre will design mobile solutions for telecommunications devices and carriers. It will leverage Singapore's state-of-the-art communication infrastructure and build alliances with key industry players.

On the other hand, BI analytics centre will focus on business performance R&D, statistical and mining techniques, and analytical frameworks in a variety of industries and business processes, including telecom banking, and supply chain management. Its activities will include customer data integration, real-time 'locational' analytics, and a revenue assurance framework.

The centre will drive innovation in new areas of business and technology, and optimise value delivered to company's customers.

The company will staff the hub with assistance from the Singapore Economic Development Board (SEDB), which is providing access to students and graduates of the country's educational institutions.

The SEDB is also enabling the company to recruit participants in industry forums, conventions, and exhibitions.

Singapore is also the site of Satyam's Global Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Centre, which recently conducted and validated a first-of-its-kind, cross-border country outage.
