Based on the past performance of iPod/iPhone speakers offered by Logitech at various prices, the company’s new releases are generally awaited with legitimate levels of excitement. And the latest Pure-Fi Anytime speakers from Logitech don’t disappoint.

The Logitech Pure-Fi Anytime supports all iPhone and iPod models with a dock connector and supports non-dockable iPods and other MP3 players via a 3.5mm input jack. Also, included is a wireless remote that controls all functions of the Logitech Pure-Fi Anytime, an AC adapter for wall power, an in-built clock and above all, a 9V battery back-up for power outages.

The machine has dual speakers and a recessed dock for an iPod that prevents you from knocking off your iPod and possibly breaking the dock connector. The coolest part of the Logitech Pure-Fi Anytime is the motion activated snooze control.

You don’t have to push a button you can simply wave your hand over the right side of the clock and the alarm goes to snooze. There is a large snooze button for the more old-school type. When you pass your hand over the snooze button, the controls automatically light up as well.

Well, it might not be the best option for audiophiles, party people or those seeking block rocking beats but is instead a nice do-it-all alarm clock that comes with a speaker dock. Our verdict, are a good choice, especially if you have most of your music on your music player and want to listen while you get ready in the morning. There’s also a Logitech Pure Fi Anywhere is priced at Rs 9,795 where as the name suggests, it is a portable speaker set, small enough to be carried around.

Creative GigaWorks T40 Series II had impressed us back in October when it was unveiled. The GigaWorks T40 features a midrange-tweeter-midrange (MTM) driver configuration that manages to improve the overall audio balance adding a deeper and richer bass effect.

The system comes with a stereo audio cable with 3.5mm jacks and a stereo 3.5mm-to-RCA adapter that can connect a TV or DVD player to the GigaWorks T40 speakers. Creative says the GigaWorks T40’s built-in amplifier delivers 14 watts per channel. The GigaWorks T40 has no provision for attaching a subwoofer but its big enough to sound good with music, movies, and games.

Altec Lansing’s new Expressionist series multimedia speakers are an obvious effort by the company to move beyond sonic, price, and functional considerations into cosmetic ones. Expressionist Classic is cooler in looks, but not on sound. Expressionist Classic (aka FX2020) is an Rs 4,000 pair of two-driver speakers that use blocks of transparent plastic to suspend tube-shaped black cans above your desk’s surface. Since the speakers wired to one another, with a 6-feet long connectors, it offers some degree of flexibility in terms of placement and separation. But if you’re looking to fill a whole room with full, crisp sound, these probably aren’t the right speakers.
