Orissa would have two more centres of the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) at Balasore and Sambalpur.
Pradipta K Mohapatra, the state IT secretary said, “The state has two functional STPIs at Bhubaneswar and Rourkela and the third STPI at Berhampur will be inaugurated shortly. Besides, the state will have two more STPIs at Balasore and Sambalpur.”
He said that the state IT department is also going ahead with its plan to set up the second tower of the Orissa Computer Application Centre (OCAC).
The second OCAC tower which is coming just behind the existing OCAC tower in the city is set to be operational by June this year and it involves an investment of Rs 40 crore.
The proposed facility isbeing developed exclusively for IT and ITes (information technology enabled services) companies. Spread over an area of 1.4 acres, it will have a total built-up space of about two lakh sq ft.
The second OCAC tower will offer ready to use office space to the IT SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises), said Mohapatra. He was speaking at the inauguration of the JSS Software Technology Park, the first software technology park in the state.

Speaking on the occasion, state chief minister, Naveen Patnaik said, “Besides offering ready to use office space for the IT and ITes (IT enabled services) units, the JSS Software Technology Park will provide incubation facility to the IT start-ups at affordable rates.”
Talking on the success of the e-governance projects, Patnaik said, “Our e-governance projects like e-procurement and e-registration have been immensely successful and these projects have earned accolades from other states. Another e-governance project which has revolutionized workflow at the state secretariat is the Orissa Secretariat Workflow Automation System.”
