Audio-Technica's newly introduced S series headphones that are exclusively for street users are the ones in the market to look out for. The S series comes in four choices - ATH-S500, ATH-S300, ATH-S100 and ATH-S100iS in a price range that varies from Rs 1,699 to Rs 4,199.
The ATH-S500 headphone that I got to try was quite handy with a single-side cable. With a plastic body, it looked trendy among the new hip hop cans in the market. The swivel folding option aided in carrying the headphones without much of a hullabaloo. The fine fitting earpads offer minimal sound leakage and a comfortable experience, though it is not advisable for long-hour usage.
Of course, it is specially for street use and, hence, the headphones offer excellent bass performance. The treble was good enough with a clear soundstage. The midrange, too, was satisfactory.
Wandering in the valleys and hills of Shimla, with music on the headphones was just how I loved to get lost. Audio-Technica's new series offers high-end experience even on the busy Delhi roads.
