Sun Microsystems has formed a consortium with APC-MGE, Advanced Micro Devices, Hitachi Data Systems and Wipro Infotech to address the growing issues of limited power, space and energy in data centres. |
According to Sun, the alliance will edify customers on technology infrastructure, practices and methodologies that can help them cut costs, use less space, improve performance and efficiency and 'green' their businesses. |
Each player will offer their expertise when customers want solutions to the problems they face in their data centres. |
For example, while Wipro will provide its expertise in system integration and consulting, Hitachi will provide customers with energy-efficient storage devices. |
"Indian CIOs, like their global counterparts, are facing the problems related to energy and space. An increasing number of customers are complaining that either they have no space to set up new data centres or that their existing data centres are witnessing more breakdowns. It is problems like these we will be addressing," Bhaskar Pramanik, president-India GEM, Sun Microsystems India, said. |
