Sun Microsystems has announced that it has tied up with eSys Information Technologies as its designated channel development partner (CDP) in the country.

The primary goal of this partnership will be to provide customers in the Tier II & III regions across India with a CDP fully dedicated to their businesses.

As an authorised CDP of Sun, eSys India will establish key enterprise distribution teams to focus on the major growth industries such as education and research, government and manufacturing in addition to a large base of small and medium businesses.

Announcing the pact, Sun India MD Bhaskar Pramanik said: "India has constantly grown as a leading IT consumption market, with presence of a large base of customers located in regions other than the Tier I and II metros. This partnership with eSys forms a strategic part of our efforts in growing our presence across the country."

eSys, a global distribution firm, with a topline of $1.4 billion is looking at expanding its market-share in India with this tie-up.

According to independent estimates, this firm is the third largest IT distribution firm in the country with a topline of $250 million from the Indian sub-continent.

The firm is looking at acquiring an IT distribution entity in India within the next 6 months to expand its presence, which will enable it to reach $500 million topline from here over the next year.

The company is raising close to $200 million through a bond issue in Singapore as an effort to equip itself with cash to fund acquisitions across the globe.
