Sun Microsystems' annual three-day jamboree for software developers who use Java Technology is to kick off in Chennai on February 7. The event is called Sun Tech Days 2006 and is a part of an eight-country event organised by the company. |
KP Unnikrishnan, marketing director, Sun Microsystems, said that Sun Tech Days' main theme would be 'innovation'. Unnikrishnan and Naveen Asrani, manager- developer relations, Asia South, briefed the media about the aim of the event and the atmosphere the company hoped to create. |
Sun will charge each participant a fee of Rs 1,500. However, the giveaways there in the form of software and merchandise would far exceed the participation fee, claimed Sun officials. |

Laurie Tolson, vice-president, Java Platform, Sun Microsystems Inc, and KarenTegan Padir, vice-president, Enterprise Java Platforms, are scheduled to deliver keynote speeches. |
Another key feature of the event would be the participation of Nasscom president Kiran Karnik and Laura Merling, executive director of SD Forum, US. |
Sun Tech will also provide training on a number of technology topics in enterprise computing, security and mobile computing. Besides technology-related aspects, the jamboree will witness entertainment shows that would centre around the theme. |
Unnikrishnan said that nearly 2,500 people had enrolled for the Chennai event. This is the sixth consecutive year when Sun has decided to hold its Sun Tech festival in India. After Chennai, the Sun Tech festival will move on to Madrid. |
