Sweden-based Syntensia, a network security solutions provider, is planning to set up a software development centre in India. At present, the company's solutions are developed out of Sweden and the US. |
"The talent base and cost advantage of developing solutions in the country are moving us in favour of setting up a development centre in India," said Anil Zuitshi, country manager for Syntensia in India and neighbouring countries. |
Bangalore, Hyderabad and Greater Noida are the potential locations for this centre, Zuitshi said, adding it would be difficult to state the investment details in this regard. At present, the company provides customisation and support services in the country. |
The company has a security-on-demand solution called White Knight in the market, targeted towards the small and medium enterprises and small office/home office market. |
It integrates multiple security features such as firewall, intrusion detection and prevention, anti-virus, content filtering, anti-spam and spyware protection and is based on subscription model of payment. |
This means that the user need not make a large upfront payment but can pay as per use. So, a customer has to pay an installation cost of $550 and monthly charge of $55 for the integrated solution. |
According to Zuitshi, competing solutions would turn out to be four times costlier than their solution because a customer is not given the freedom to pay as per use. |
Syntensia is mulling introducing a tariff-based plan as well, wherein a customer gets the freedom to choose between different individual solutions instead of opting only for an integrated appliance. |
The company has a presence in six cities in the country. It will be expanding to around ten more cities in the couple of quarters. "These include Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Kochi and Lucknow," Zuitshi said. |
Syntensia has a client base of 24 in India at present. The company is betting big on India as according to Zuitshi, there are two million small and medium entities in the country. |
