Tata DoCoMo, the GSM brand of Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL), on Thursday launched its operations in Kerala. This is the second launch in south India after Chennai and Tamil Nadu circles on Wednesday.

Speaking to the media in Kochi, TTSL managing director Anil Sardana said the service would be extended to the entire south India within a fortnight. Tata DoCoMo’s pan-India roll out will be completed this year.

The telecom operator has earmarked around $2 billion (around Rs 10,000 crore) for its pan-India GSM network rollout.

The company also introduced a wide range of products and services at the launch including 1 paise per second for all calls including local and STD on a pan-India basis.

It also announced the introduction of the pay-as-you-use advantage for many of its value added services like voice portals, 24 hour music, cricket commentary and voice chat among others.

In Kerala, the company plans to cover 493 towns and 516 villages.

Tata DoCoMo is a joint venture between telecom majors Tata Teleservices Ltd and Japan-based NTT DoCoMo.
