Tata Tele launches mobile web browser

Tata Teleservices, one of India's fastest-growing telecom service providers, has unveiled its first mobile web browser, fully optimized for mobile Internet, in association with Samsung Telecommunications India on 'Samsung Explore'""a sleek feature-rich handset priced at Rs 5,499.
 
This new-age browser is designed to provide mobile users a web experience at speed 3-4 times faster than GPRS, with access to all websites.
 
"As of now, this offer is available on only one Samsung handset. As technology matures, we would roll out this bundled offer with several other Samsung handsets," said Pankaj Sethi, president for value added services of Tata Teleservices.
 
With this bundled offer, Tata Teleservices hopes to garner a higher market share in value-added services and subsequently increase its subscriber base from 2 million right now.
 
Tata Indicom's web browser is available on the 'Samsung Explore' handset and its mobile internet offer comes at prices ranging from Rs 10 per day to Rs 99 for a month, with unlimited internet access.
 
Samsung Explore comes with a 'Go Active' connection that offers incoming facility for a year and free 1,000-minutes Tata-to-Tata calling at no extra cost.
 
Additionally, Tata Indicom customers also have the option to select their own tariff plan from various consumer-friendly and attractive tariff options.
 
According to Hyunbai Kim, vice-president & head "" CDMA division, Samsung Telecommunications, "We have partnered with Tata Indicom earlier and are looking at launching the faciltiies on other handsets also."
 
Commenting on the launch of Samsung Explore, Rajamani Ganesh, senior director "" business development, Qualcomm India, said, "As of now downloading videos is not possible on this handset. But the offer would be extended on other handsets as well to incorporate all kinds of usage. With Samsung Explore, Qualcomm has been able to introduce the first QSC-enabled multimedia device with unparalleled integrated features like camera, MP3 player and Internet browser in an attractive slim form factor."
 
The Tata Indicom mobile web browser, powered by Novarra Inc, can be easily downloaded on BREW-enabled handsets.
