Tata Tele to invest Rs 20 cr in Goa

With the tourist season round the corner in Goa, Tata Indicom has announced an additional investment of Rs 20 crore in the next quarter of FY06, for network expansion and capacity enhancement.
 
"Goa is a tourist destination and Tata cannot ignore the segment, as it doubles the size of the Goa market in the tourist season," said Charles Antony, managing director, Tata Teleservices, TTML (Maharashtra).
 
Antony said Goa market could be classified into two categories - the local market and the tourist market. " we are going to approach the local market like any other market in the country. For the tourist segment, we plan to promote our services like rental phones, ISD, STD facilities, data services, etc," he said.
 
Tata Teleservices has already installed 26 cell sites in Goa and plans to take the number to 42 by December 2005. The company has also opened 12 True Value Shops and 500 retail outlets to sell Tata Indicom services.
 
Tata Indicom (Goa region) will launch its services in 43 additional towns in Maharashtra soon thereby it would have a foot print of around 180 towns by end of this year.
