Tata Consultancy Services today announced that it has bagged a Rs 314 crore e-governance project with Prem Chand Gupta, minister for company affairs, handing over the letter of award to the company-led consortium. According to a release issued by TCS to the BSE today, the DCA21 e-governance programme will be implemented within a BOOT framework. "The project timeframe would include implementation, roll out at all sites along with testing and certification as well as project implementation. During the period, fixed, equated quarterly installments would be paid to the BOOT operator by the project owner," the release added. S Ramadorai, managing director of TCS, said: "It is an extremely proud moment for us to have been awarded such a vital and path breaking e-governance project by the ministry of company affairs. With its long-standing commitment to society and e-governance in the country, TCS has been a pioneer in bringing better management, control and governance by introducing a service-oriented approach in the design and delivery of government services thereby establishing a healthy business eco system to make the country globally competitive." "Realising that the administrative machinery has not been able to keep pace with the phenomenal growth of the companies in terms of delivery of services to various stakeholders, the ministry has sought to address this weakness through the e-governance initiative," the release said. The project involves roll-out at all locations within 60 weeks, and actual operations over a period of six years. "The MCA targets switching over to complete e-registration and e-filing by all corporates within a period of three years. The project, once operational, would help in providing an easy e-filing system for business and industry. This would save time and cost of compliance under the Companies Act. It would also provide enhanced access to company data to the public, financial institutions and all other stakeholders and transform the ministry into a modern, dynamic and customer-centric organisation," the release added. |
