The state government is leaving no stone unturned to make Bhubaneswar the numero uno IT destination among the Tier-II cities of the country. To attract more IT industries to Orissa, the government is preparing industry friendly ICT Policy, a new IT Road Map, Special Economic Zone (SEZ) policy and IT Hardware policy.
This was stated by chief minister Naveen Patnaik while laying the foundation stone for Kalinga Park- Phase-II, the second phase of Global Software Development Centre (GSDC) of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) here.
Many e-Governance projects have been initiated by the state government in various fields like education, healthcare, public distribution, agriculture, land records etc to increase the access of information to the rural masses, he added.
IT exports from our state has crossed Rs 1300 crore during 2010-11 with direct employment of more than ten thousand persons. Kalinga Park Phase-II will generate direct and indirect jobs for more than 3400 IT professionals over and above the employee strength of 1200 in the TCS centre at present, said S Mahalingam, Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director.
He said, expansion of Kalinga Park Phase-II of GSDC will be completed by 2012 and Phase III by 2013 with an investment of Rs 500 crore. After completion of Phase-III, the centre will have 10,000 engineers and 1000 other associates.
Mahalingam said, TCS has recruited 3,000 students from different technical institutes in the state.
