The Independent Game Developers Association (TIGA) is exploring opportunities of partnering with iGita, the newly-formed Indian Games Industry and Trade Association, for better ties between Indian and the UK gaming companies. |
TIGA represents the business interests of independent game development studios in the UK. |
According to Nikkan Woodhouse, international trade and export adviser to TIGA, "The Indian gaming industry is at a fairly early stage of development. But there is potential for synergy between gaming companies in the UK and India in the form of partnership, sharing of expertise, and creating content and training." |
Gaming companies in the UK have already established relationships with companies in the US and Japan. Besides, eastern Europe and China are the major outsourcing destinations in this regard. |
"At present, the Indian gaming industry is small and young but has impressive work ethics. However, Indian gaming companies do not yet have adequate visibility in the global market. I am still discovering the potential of the Indian gaming industry and looking forward for synergy," Woodhouse told mediapersons on the sidelines of Nasscom's Animation India 2006. |
"The first priority is, however, to open up the communication channels of our association with iGita and share information about the local markets with each other. We are also looking at offering membership of our association to iGita members and vice versa besides enabling swapping of developers between UK and Indian gaming companies," she added. |
