Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) has sought a reduction in tariffs of both international and domestic leased line circuits.

"There should be a fall in leased circuit prices in proportion to the demand and supply of bandwidth in the country," Trai chairman Pradip Baijal said today.

"If that is not seen, the regulator will interfere and take steps to reduce the charges," he added.

Baijal said the access deficit charge (ADC) would be reduced further in the coming days and would be phased in the next 3-5 years.

"A second consultation paper on ADC would be released in the next 15 days, and on spectrum allocation in another 10-15 days," he said.
