Telecom operator Uninor is planning to expand its operations in rural areas in the coming months. The move is aimed at becoming a mass market telecom brand.
Satish Kumar Kannan, head, (Hyderabad Hub), Uninor, said, “We will focus mainly on expanding our customer base and footprint in rural areas. We will tie up with local retailers to promote our offers and servicing in the mass market with the lowest costs in the industry.” Uninor currently covers 2,600 villages. The company had reached close to one million (987,000) customers by August in Andhra Pradesh and would launch newer SMS and Internet-specific products in the coming months.
