UshaComm, the telecom billing solutions provider, has tied-up with Talisma Corporation, a leading provider of customer relationship management (CRM) solutions, to introduce a solution that helps telecom service providers improve their topline by creating new offers for existing customers and also to reduce the cost of acquisition of new subscribers.

The solution - christened TIB-X (telco in a box) - is built on the capabilities around business support system (BSS), customer relationship management (CRM) and business intelligence (BI).

The solution targets telecom operators and mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs), and comes with in-built technology to support number portability, among others. Saugata Banerjee, executive director, UshaComm, said, “One of our major direction is to grow our business through partnerships of various types, like system integrators, technical platform providers and application vendors. Partnership with Talisma is well timed because currently all service providers are struggling to retain customers, either because of imminent implementation of number portability or due to high cost of acquiring new customers.”

TIB-X is a pre-configured, tightly integrated solution which combines the capabilities of business support system (BSS), business intelligence and CRM.

“We are also in talks with companies in the utilities sector for possible tie-ups. Around 70 per cent of our turnover comes from overseas businesses and we have over 40 customers using our solution,” Banerjee said.

Talisma Corporation, on the other hand, expects 30 per cent growth this year with a clear focus on banking and financial services clients, education and hi-tech clients.

“India has a mobile subscriber base of 400 million, which is likely to increase to 800 million by 2015. So there is automatically a big opportunity for billing solutions and value-added-services,” said Rajendra C Mruthyunjayappa, managing director - Asia Pacific and Europe, Talisma Corporation.

TIB-X is expected to be useful for operators, especially new entrants, in countries like India where the market is extremely price conscious and highly competitive. TIB-X is also expected to help operators launch new offerings to their existing customers and to intelligently launch campaigns.
