VMware Inc, a NYSE-listed, $3-billion company that provides virtualisation solutions from desktop to the data centre and to the cloud, is aiming at doubling the number of virtual desktop seats in India.
“Last year, about 5,000 seats could have used our virtualisation desktop services. We are looking a doubling that this year,” Shrimathi Ambastha, director (technology — India), told mediapersons here on Wednesday. Stating that defence and government sectors opens up opportunities for such services, she said the company was planning to penetrate more into the enterprise market.
“Virtualisation is now a de facto model and it paves the way for a new era in IT,” she said, adding that the company was working with few mobile OEMs to virtualise Android devices.
