The IT sector in West Bengal should grow more than the national average, claimed Debesh Das, IT minister, West Bengal, at a function in Kolkata today.

However, the minister did not give any figures to corroborate his claim. Last year, the National IT growth was 29 per cent, while that in West Bengal was 46 per cent. 33 IT companies had come to the state in last year. This year, the number should not be less, the minister said. Nearly seven to eight companies had approached the government to set up establishments in Kolkata, he added.
