WeP's Baddi unit to start in 3 months

Bangalore-based WeP Peripherals Ltd's, one of the leading IT peripherals companies, new unit at Baddi (Himachal Pradesh), would be operational in three months.
 
The company has invested Rs 7 crore in this new unit and has plans to install additional printing line with an outlay of Rs 1 crore.
 
At present, it has a manufacturing facility at Nalagarh, which would be later shifted to the new premise at Baddi. Once operational the combined capacity of the units would be 100,000 UPS and 100,000 impact printers per year.
 
Speaking to Business Standard, Managing Director and CEO Ram Agarwal said, "On an average there is demand of 150,000 UPS per month, so there is immense potential. Our aim is to achieve a market share of 20-30 per cent in the current financial year. At present, it has 10 per cent market share. Commenting upon the target segment, he said, "For UPS, we are going for aggressive marketing and would target rural, semi urban and urban areas."
 
It has also expanded its power solutions range with the launch of its new online UPS. The 'POWER UPS' is currently being launched in the 1, 2 and 3 kVA ratings and the company plans to expand to higher ratings later based on demand from the market. It has also plans to provide information management and information protection along with printing and power solutions to end customers.
 
Upon new intiatitive, he said, " We have plans to launch UPS on DCB technology, which can offer uniterrupted power supply for eight hours and be would probably the first one to launch this product."
 
The company also unveiled printing services under print and save offers users the facility of paying for printouts rather than investing in printers for Chandigarh market. With two convenient forms "" on-siteservices, where the facility is available at the user's premises and off-site services, where the facility is available at a WeP 'Print & Save Centre', this unique solution provides a scope for all businesses to outsource business-printing requirements.
 
About printer market, he said, "Overall, there is demand of 400,000 printers per year." In the last financial year, the turnover of the company was Rs 370 crore and this year it is expecting to achieve a growth of 10-15 per cent.
 
It is worth noting that the company provides IT peripherals products, solutions, supplies and printing services.
 
Over the years WeP has diversified from printers to other emerging and growing IT peripherals products like the un-interruptible power supplies (UPSs), Retail Billing Solutions, Networking Products and Laser Printers.
 
Currently, WeP has two facilities at Mysore and Nalagarh (Himachal Pradesh) are state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities having the capacity to produce more than 650,000 products and 1 million consumables per year.
