Wipro Technologies has expanded its facility in Reading and opened a new office in London, the company said on Monday.

The facility has now been purchased by Wipro and will be used for building centres of excellence, delivering customer projects and employee training, Badiga said.

Continuing its business expansion in the UK, Wipro has also inaugurated its new office in London. The office will be the headquarters of the company’s UK operations. The facility will primarily serve as a sales office.

Ayan Mukerji, Head of Europe Operations for Wipro Technologies said that both the Reading and London centres would serve as key hubs for recruitment, training of local staff and also give opportunities to offer onsite development centre premises for more customers.

“The establishment of the new offices will facilitate Wipro’s growth strategy in the UK and overall growth in the European region,” Mukerji said.

Badiga said that taking on the ownership of the facility at Reading is the first of its kind for Wipro overseas. “The Reading centre started with just one floor and had a little over 30 employees when we started. The expansion in Reading and opening of the new office in London has reinforced our commitment to the region,” he said.

Revenues from Wipro’s European operations account for approximately 26 per cent of the company’s overall IT services revenues.
