In an attempt to bridge the digital divide in India, Wipro Infotech, a division of the $ 1.9 billion Wipro Limited, on Tuesday launched the 'SuperGenius Bharat PC' targeted and designed specifically for use in rural India.

K.S.Viswanathan, chief executive - India Geography, Wipro Infotech said, "At Wipro, we are constantly conceiving newer approaches toward affordable computing. The Wipro SuperGenius Bharat PC is a step towards taking basic computing closer to the common man." It is based on Intel's innovative PC platform that has been developed to meet the needs of rural villages and communities in India. The PC platform is equipped to operate in a community setting and rural environment.

Wipro SuperGenius Bharat PC consists of a rugged chassis that is engineered to resist extreme dust and heat conditions. Additionally, unlike typical desktops, this new PC can continue to operate if AC power is unavailable without loss of any data. The Central Power System Unit (CPSU) enables the system to operate on both AC and DC (battery) power.

The System Maintenance Center software empowers the system owner with self- diagnostic and self- maintenance capabilities. The Battery Wizard Software enables the operator to establish system- level power management and battery power functions and provides the real- time status of battery charge.
