Software giant Wipro Technologies launched its Mission10x education programme under which it plans to train 10,000 teachers by 2010. Wipro plans to hold regular workshops for engineering schools' faculty from across the country. |
According to Wipro, they will train teachers so that the teachers can in turn train students and make them more industry-ready by the time the students pass out of colleges. Wipro plans to train 1,000 teachers this fiscal and another 3,000 next fiscal. |
Apart from the workshops, Wipro will also train teachers through its new portal Mission10x.com on which the teachers can share their experiences. |
As part of the programme, faculty from engineering schools from across the country will be involved and Wipro also plans to go to tier II and tier III cities instead of tying up with only the top colleges. |
"There is a sufficient supply of fresh talent but they are not immediately employable and innovative solutions can help us meet this challenge," Wipro chairman Azim Premji said. |
The programme will enable the faculty to make students understand their subjects better as well as teach them key behavorial skills that will include behavorial as well as interpersonal skills. |
