Xiaomi on Tuesday announced a price cut for the Redmi Note 4G, bringing it down from Rs 9,999 to Rs 7,999. The price cut will be aplicable from Tuesday and will be available on Mi.com, Flipkart, Amazon, Snapdeal, The Mobile Stores and Airtel stores, a release said.

The price slash brings the Note 4G closer to other affordable 4G LTE smartphones available in the Indian market — such as Micromax's Yu Yuphoria (Rs. 6,999), the Motorola Moto E (Gen 2) 4G (Rs. 7,999), and the Lenovo A6000 Plus (Rs. 7,499). Sometime earlier, the company had slashed the prices of the Mi4 handset as well.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G is powered by a quad-core 1.6GHz Snapdragon 400 CPU coupled with 2GB of RAM, and is a single-SIM device. It comes with Android 4.4.2 KitKat and MIUI v5 skin. It also features a 5.5-inch 720x1280 pixel IPS LCD screen and features a 13-megapixel (MP) rear autofocus camera with LED flash as well as a 5MP front-facing camera.

In December 2014, the Delhi High Court had barred Xiaomi from selling or importing phones into India after a complaint from Ericsson alleging patent infringement. The move had prevented the online  sale of the Redmi Note 4G soon after its launch. With the Ericsson-Xiaomi battle heading for a settlement, the price slash seems to be well-timed for Xiaomi products in India.
