Real GDP growth will come lower than the official estimate at 6.2 per cent in the ongoing fiscal year and inch up to 6.5 per cent in FY26, a foreign brokerage said on Tuesday.
The Q2FY25 growth number at 5.4 per cent was disappointing, HSBC said in a report, adding that it expects the gross value added growth in the December quarter to go up to 6.5 per cent.
"Our 100 indicators analysis shows that growth indicators have improved since September, but remain weaker than June," the report said.
It said 65 per cent of the indicators are growing at a positive clip in the December quarter compared to 55 per cent in the July-September period, and added that improvements have been the clearest in agriculture, exports, and construction.
Even urban consumption, which has been discussed a lot in recent weeks in a concerning way, has shown some improvement in the December quarter, the report said.
The brokerage said utilities and private investment indicators continue to remain subdued, and .

Malaysian authorities said Saturday that they have turned away two boats carrying nearly 300 people believed to be Muslim Rohingya refugees who were found to have entered the country illegally.
The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency said that it had information that two more boats were attempting to enter the country after a boatload of 196 Rohingya landed early Friday on a beach on the northeastern resort island of Langkawi. They were all detained by authorities.
The agency said authorities had detected the other two boats later Friday off Langkawi. It said the people on the two boats, also believed to be Rohingya, were reported to be exhausted and lacked sufficient food and water supplies.
Maritime Enforcement Agency chief Mohamad Rosli Abdullah said in a statement that assistance has been provided to the two boats, including food supplies and and drinking water, before they were escorted out of the country to continue their journey. It didn't say where the boats were heading,

The diplomatic row between Dhaka and New Delhi notwithstanding, as many as 50 Bangladeshi judicial officers will undergo 10 day training at state-run academies in India, according to a media report on Saturday.
The Law Ministry has given permission to 50 judicial officials of subordinate courts to undergo training at the National Judicial Academy and State Judicial Academy at Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh with no cost to Bangladesh.
The Law Ministry has given permission in the wake of the Supreme Court's advice, Prothom Alo newspaper said here.
These judicial officers will participate in the training from February 10 to February 20.
Assistant Judges, Senior Assistant Judges, Joint District and Sessions Judges, Additional District and Sessions Judges, District and Sessions Judges and officers of equivalent rank have been nominated for the training.

Travel booking major OYO has launched a new check-in policy for partner hotels, starting from Meerut, introducing guidelines effective this year whereby unmarried couples will no longer be welcome to check in.
Under the revised policy, all couples will be asked to present valid proof of relationship at the time of check-in, including for bookings made online. OYO has empowered its partner hotels' discretion to decline couple bookings based on their judgment, aligning with local social sensibility, the company said.
OYO has given the directive to its partner hotels in Meerut to ensure this with immediate effect. Based on ground feedback, the company may expand this to more cities, people familiar with the policy change said.
"OYO has received feedback in the past from civil society groups especially in Meerut urging action to address this issue. Additionally, residents from few other cities have petitioned for disallowing unmarried couples to check-in at OYO hotels," they said.
