New Delhi [India], December 14: Today, the University of Chicago celebrated the 10th anniversary of its Center in Delhi and the many collaborations, relationships and scientific research it has nurtured. Taken together, these opportunities in diverse fields from liberal arts to medicine provide strong momentum for the University's outreach in India, and to the cutting-edge, cooperative work required to tackle the world's most challenging issues. Following an inaugural anniversary event in February, today the Center concludes a year of intellectual engagement celebrating its decade in India. It will focus on bringing "Ideas to Impact" for the next ten years and beyond, while strengthening its partnerships under the framework of the US-India Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET). The University marked the occasion by celebrating the India launch of the Institute for Climate and Sustainable Growth.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday paid tributes to celebrated actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor on his 100th birth anniversary, hailing him as "the eternal showman".
He said on X, "Today, we mark the 100th birth anniversary of the legendary Raj Kapoor, a visionary filmmaker, actor and the eternal showman! His genius transcended generations, leaving an indelible mark on Indian and global cinema."
The prime minister had recently met members of the Kapoor family, which has produced several successful actors, to commemorate his legacy.
Born on this day in 1924 in what was then undivided India and is now part of Pakistan, Kapoor was the son of stalwart actor Prithviraj Kapoor and grew to become not only a successful actor but also one of the greatest filmmakers of the Hindi film cinema.
His screen portrayal of a common man wedded to working-class values coupled with an eye for talent in various aspects of film-making, not least in music, created a popular cinema that won the hearts of .

There is an imperative need for holding simultaneous elections for various reasons as polls have become expensive and time-consuming, according to the proposed bill being brought to implement the ambitious 'one nation, one election' plan.

Car market leader Maruti Suzuki India on Wednesday said it plans to increase its overall service network to 8,000 touchpoints by 2030-31, with an aim to reach closer to its customers.
The company, which on Wednesday opened the 500th service touchpoint for its premium retail outlet NEXA, currently has 5,240 touchpoints across NEXA as well as ARENA -- the mass market retail chain.
"Our aim is to consistently deliver convenience and superior car ownership experience to our customers. One way is by reaching closer to our customers so that they have assurance of finding a Maruti Suzuki service touchpoint nearby," Maruti Suzuki India MD & CEO, Hisashi Takeuchi said in a statement.
He further said, "Going forward as we plan to substantially increase our annual production and sales, we will simultaneously strengthen our service network. Our plan is to expand our service network, including ARENA and NEXA service touchpoints, from about 5,240 to 8,000 by FY 2030-31."

The Supreme Court on Wednesday relaxed bail conditions of AAP leader Manish Sisodia which required him to report to the investigating officer twice a week in the corruption and money laundering cases related to the Delhi excise policy.
A bench of Justices B R Gavai and K V Viswanathan relaxed the conditions, saying they were not necessary.
"The petitioner shall regularly attend the trial," the bench said.
The apex court on November 22 agreed to hear Sisodia's pleas and issued notices to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) seeking their responses on the applications.
On August 9, the apex court had granted him bail in the corruption and money laundering cases linked to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam, saying long incarceration for 17 months without trial had deprived him of his right to speedy trial.
