Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday expressed grief over the killing of two migrant workers from the state in Manipur's Kakching district, and announced ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for family members of the deceased.
Sunalal Kumar (18) and Dashrat Kumar (17), residents of Gopalganj district, were shot dead on Saturday evening. They were construction workers and lived in a rented accommodation in Kakching.
The CM has expressed deep sorrow over the killing of two migrant workers from the state in Manipur's Kakching district. Heartfelt condolences to their family, a statement issued by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said.
He has announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the immediate family members of the deceased... (he) also directed officials of the state's social welfare and labour departments to ensure that the family members get other benefits, too, as per existing provisions, it said.

State-owned NBCC Ltd is targeting to reach Rs 1 lakh crore of consolidated order book by March next year from the current Rs 84,400 crore as the company looks to expand business across India.
NBCC (India) Ltd is into Project Management Consultancy (PMC), Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) and real estate businesses.
"NBCC has an order book of around Rs 84,000 crore. We are targeting to take Rs 1 lakh crore at the end of this financial year," NBCC Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) K P Mahadevaswamy told investors.
According to a transcript of discussion with investors, he said the total order book at a consolidated level is Rs 84,400 crore, of which NBCC's share is about Rs 70,400 crore.
The remaining is order book of its subsidiaries.
The order book of HSCL stood at Rs 8,093 crore, HSCL Rs 5,915 crore, and NSL Rs 200 crore.
Of the total order book, Mahadevaswamy said the PMC/EPC contributes around 55 per cent and 45 per cent in redevelopment.

The country's first diabetes biobank, a repository of population-based biological samples aimed at supporting scientific research, has been established in Chennai by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in collaboration with the Madras Diabetes Research Foundation (MDRF).
The biobank set up at the MDRF, Chennai aims to gather, process, store and distribute biospecimens to assist scientific studies with the permission of the ICMR.
The biobank will facilitate advanced research on the causes of diabetes, the variations of the Indian type of diabetes and related disorders, said Dr V Mohan, chairman of the MDRF and Dr Mohan's Diabetes Specialities Centre.
The biobank has blood samples from two ICMR-funded studies -- the ICMR-?India Diabetes (ICMR-?INDIAB) study conducted in all states and Union territories in phases from 2008 to 2020 and the "Registry of people with diabetes in India at a young age at the onset", which was launched in 2006 and is still ongoing.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday proposed 11 resolutions which include upholding existing reservations for marginalised sections but  strongly opposing any religion-based quota.
Replying to a two-day debate in Lok Sabha on the 'Glorious Journey of 75 Years of  the Constitution of India', Modi said the Constituent Assembly had decided against religion-based reservations after a thorough discussion, and alleged the Congress is now promising it to appease its vote bank.
The 11 resolutions proposed by Modi towards the end of his over 110-minute speech also included a call for an end to dynastic politics, promoting meritocracy over nepotism in governance and a pledge for having zero tolerance to corruption.
The prime minister said these resolutions are aimed at shaping India's future.

The market capitalisation (mcap) of TCS climbed Rs 9,805.02 crore to Rs 16,18,587.63 crore.

India's import of Russian crude oil dropped in November to its lowest level since June 2022 but the Kremlin continues to be the biggest source of oil for India, according to a monthly tracker report of a European think tank.
India became the second biggest buyer of Russian crude oil since Moscow invaded Ukraine in February 2022, with purchases rising from less than one per cent of the total oil imported to almost 40 per cent of the country's total oil purchases.
The rise was primarily because the Russian crude oil was available at a discount to other internationally traded oil due to the price cap and the European nations shunning purchases from Moscow.
"India's imports of Russian crude oil dropped by a massive 55 per cent in November - the lowest figure since June 2022," the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA) said its latest report.
Russia remained India's top oil supplier, followed by Iraq and Saudi Arabia.

The cumulative capex (capital expenditure) of Indian airports is expected to grow 12 per cent at Rs 60,000 crore in the three years through FY27 from Rs 53,000 crore during 2022-2024, to add required infrastructure for about 65 million passengers per annum, ratings agency CRISIL said on Thursday.
CRISIL said 70 per cent of this capex is expected to be funded through debt.
The ratings agency said its projections are based on a study of 11 private airports in the country that account for 60 per cent of the total passenger traffic in FY24.
In addition to the expected growth in passenger traffic, increase in tariffs and spending within the airport ecosystem will lift revenue of private Indian airports at an average growth rate of 17 per cent between FY25 and FY27, it said.
That, coupled with improved funding access and a predictable regulatory regime, will support the strong credit profiles of private airports.
