The Indian Navy's latest survey ship -- INS Nirdeshak -- that boasts over "80 per cent indigenous content", reaffirming the naval force's focus towards Aatmanirbharta, is all set to be commissioned at Visakhapatnam on December 18, a senior official said on Friday.
The commissioning ceremony will be presided over by Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth.
"The Indian Navy is all set to commission its latest survey ship 'Nirdeshak' at Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam, on December 18," a Navy spokesperson said.
The ceremony will be hosted by the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command and attended by distinguished guests, including senior naval officials and GRSE representatives.
The ship, built at GRSE Kolkata, boasts over 80 per cent indigenous content, reaffirming India's expertise in ship design and construction and the Indian Navy's focus towards 'Aatmanirbharta', he said.
The 110-meter-long vessel, with a displacement of approximately 3,800 tonnes, is powered by

E-commerce giant Amazon on Tuesday announced its commitment to enable USD 80 billion in cumulative exports from India by 2030 and said it has partnered with DPIIT to establish India as a global manufacturing hub.
Amit Agarwal, Senior Vice President for Emerging Markets at Amazon, made the announcements during the company's annual 'Smbhav Summit'.
"Motivated by the progress that we made in driving exports out of India...we are quadrupling our focus in India... we are going to advance our commitment to enable USD 80 billion in exports by 2030," Agarwal said.
Amazon had earlier pledged to digitising 10 million micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), achieving USD 20 billion in cumulative exports from India, and creating 2 million jobs in the country by 2025.

CUET-UG will return to the computer-based format from 2025 and students will be allowed to appear for any subject irrespective of the subjects studied in class 12, according to UGC Chairman Jagadesh Kumar.
In an interview with PTI, Kumar said an expert panel set up by the University Grants Commission (UGC) conducted a review of the exam and proposed several changes.
The panel examined various aspects of the test, such as its structure, number of papers, duration of test papers, syllabus alignment and operational logistics. The changes recommended by it were approved by the commission in a recent meeting.
"The exam will be conducted only in CBT (computer-based test) mode from 2025. We conducted the exam in hybrid mode last year but we will move to CBT mode because it is much more reliable and secure as compared to other modes of examination.
"Candidates will also be allowed to opt for subjects in CUET-UG which they haven't studied in class 12 to allow the students to cross over the

While speaking at the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit, Paytm founder and CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma, however, said that his company will need more people to develop technology and provide support as the adoption of AI increases.
When asked about whether Paytm is also looking at technologies to reduce its workforce, Sharma said, "We will need to hire more ... to provide technology support. Technology companies will become stronger with the adoption of tech".

Flexible contracts with suppliers and access to cost-effective cloud solutions are giving home-grown mid-segment hotel brands a competitive edge against international counterparts in India, according to a whitepaper by cloud-based hospitality technology solutions provider Hotelogix.
According to the whitepaper, home-grown mid-market brands with small inventory can experience rapid growth in tier II, III, and IV cities, as it is exceedingly challenging for international brands to establish operational capabilities in those areas where 80-85 per cent of demand is domestic.
India's home-grown mid-segment hotel brands control about 60 per cent of the total branded rooms available in the country, it mentioned.
These domestic mid-market brands have also begun exploring management contracts and franchise models as a growth strategy, providing a significant competitive advantage over international chains, it said.

The European Union has provided India with inputs on the alleged involvement of certain Indian entities in supplying "high priority" goods with possible military application to Russia in violation of Western sanctions, people familiar with the development said.
EU Sanctions Envoy David O Sullivan said he visited India in October to discuss with Indian authorities "systemic solutions" to stop the "illicit flow" of the common high priority items to Russia.
There was no immediate comment from the Indian side on the matter. India has been maintaining that as a matter of policy, it only recognises UN sanctions.
"I travelled to India in October 2024 for the second time to discuss with Indian authorities systemic solutions to stop the illicit flow of common high priority items to Russia," Sullivan said in response to a query.
